hello all

when i go on this site now i feel i understand much better the worry and pain involved in the dredded uk spouse settlement visa.

Initially i was so confident of the settlement visa application but quickly you turn to panic and fear.

so now i am in uk looking for a job to be able to show the £92.80 after living expences

i will need to show for the visa

the question is once i have a job how many bank statments do i need to show as proof of income ?? is one bank statment enough presuming i have to work the normal week in hand. or do i need to work for weeks and weeks to show multi statments?

this will be a new job for me as i left my old job to marry and stay in thai to meet my wifes family (and enjoy life not working for a while to be honest)!

as you can imagine i just want to get the applicantion in to the embassy as soon as i get work in case the application is refused and has to go to appeal

but at the same time i want to make sure the officer is happy that my job is real and permenent, i can show p60`s that i worked for my last employer for 6 years and b4 that i worked every year

i am worried, because i have to get a new job that the officer looking at the application might think i could quit the job strait away if i only show my first pay statment thus not proof of means?

p.s. congratulations to all you good people who have been there and got the visa!

it must feel so good, hope right now my wife can get her visa very soon

Luke,

The requirement is to demonstrate to the visa officer that you and your wife have a household income which is sufficient for the two of you to maintain yourselves. As a means of showing this, the embassy ask for the last six months bank statements, your most recent pay slips and possibly a letter from your employer. The letter could confirm that your job is permanent.

The £92.80 is only a guide, but is a useful one to use. Don't forget that it is not £92.80 left in the bank once you've paid your bills, but £92.80 with which to pay your bills and buy food and clothing, as this is what someone on income support would have. It does not include accommodation costs, however, as someone on income support would receive additional assistance with that, so take your weekly income after tax, take off your accommodation costs and any loans/credit cards/phone contracts you have to pay, and see what you're left with. If it's more than £92.80, you should be OK.

thank you so much mr scouse, i now understand the £92.80 guide is after accomodation that helps so much

i have more than 10,000 pounds in the bank (invested) so even if my current account for the last 4 months is very low due to having to paying living expences while marrying and visiting my wife in thailand, could i show that invested money as a security to cover the gap when i was not working and now show my first month bank statement with my new job wages, and letter of employment. to satisfy adequate means.

or would i have to wait 6 months from now to show my job is permanent and the bank statments to prove it?

I am sorry for the questions but i am worried because i have changed company from the one i have had for the last 6 years(seasonal and full time) and now have to prove i have a full time job long term, it is very hard to prove until i have worked for my new job for a long time...

hello again

since my return to england to prepare the settlement forms for the visa and find work i am currently only doing tempary work because if my wife needs support in thailand i can go and help her, and because my previous job is seasonal starting in may but probably becoming full time in december. the trouble i have is my previous employer is not able to give a job offer until i start in may(understandable for them)

i want to apply using this tempary agency work as my current job and that i will use this and my savings as adequate finance until i secure a full time empoyment contract my savings 10k more thus even if it takes 3 months to secure a full time job i know i will be covered, but will the immigration officer exept this as adequate? i have p60`s showing i have worked previously 10 years more without the need for goverment help and with adequate income.

what i don`t want is to get a full time job to make the visa officer happy, and then have to quit the job or have time off strait away leaving my empoyer not happy with me.

what does the officer need to see a full time job only and empoyment letter ,or are they able to exept agency work and funds in bank to provide income until full time work is found?
