I renewed my UK passport last year, having been a Permanent Resident since 2000. I am not aware of anything in my UK Passport which signifies my Thai Permanent Residence as such. The Permanent Residence documentation is the White Book, with the Police Alien book in support. The only important thing in the old passport was the last arrival stamp. I think that could have been dealt with by leaving the country and producing my old passport on departure. When I asked at IO last year about my new passport they said wait till needing to leave. When I went to get my re-entry permit in new passport there was a new IO boss, and they insisted on transferring the arrival stamp to the new passport, as well as insisting on photographs of me at our house, which I had never heard of before. Departure and return went smoothly so everything is now in my new passport and White Book.
