I have just been emailed a spreadsheet in .xlsx format. Is there any way to open it in OOo Calc 2.31 without....

Installing MS Office

Asking the sender to resend as an xls

spending any money.

Cheers

I just uploading CX.EXE, Convert XLS to the Software Download Section of TV. May you try that Program and post your Result.

An other way for to convert is over the Internet using the following Website: http://www.zamzar.com/ here you can do online converting.

Cheers.

Just to report back.

CX did not have an option to convert to .ods so I tried .xls

The converted file when opened in Calc only had 1 sheet rather than 12.

I then tried Zamzar and received the following message.

Hello from Zamzar !

There was a problem converting your file - We attempted to perform the conversion you requested from xlsx to ods but unfortunately the conversion failed - our support team have been notified and are looking into the problem. Please click here if you would like to try and perform your conversion again. Conversion failed for the following file

Any suggestions?

Cheers

If you still have MS Office available, given your 'not missing' point above try this from Microsoft.

Regards

PS The irony here is that this format is MS' 'Open XML' format :o

PPS Other option is to tell them to set MS 2007 Office to compatibility with MS' own prior releases.
