Non B - No Valid Wp

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have recently left my job (very amicably,a friend) and my current WP has been cancelled - I am in possession of a non immigrant B visa multiple entry which runs out in Nov - does anyone know the implications associated with re-entry to Thailand? Will I be refused entry? Any assistance much appreciated.

Cheers

No effect on a multi entry visa - only when you have one year extension of stay.

There are usually two types of B visas.

A single entry B visa that is good for 90 days stay.

A multiple entry B visa that is valid for one year and allows stays of 90 days on each entry.

If they have the first one, they can go to immigration within Thailand and extend it for a year so that they do not have to leave the country and get a new visa. They can at the time get a re-entry permit, which allows them to come and go from the country during that year. Your extension is based on having your work permit. So when you lose your job, the extension also goes away, and now you no longer have a valid visa or extension, so you have to leave in 7 days.

If they have the second one, they can get a job, but they are still reqired to leave the country every 90 days. The visa is still valid for one year. So if they work for 6 months, and then lose their job, the work permit goes away. But the visa is still valid for another 6 months, so they can continue making the 90 day visa runs for the remaining 6 months.

So if you had one that was only good for 90 days and then went to immigration in Thailand and got an extension of stay based on employment, then you have to leave within 7 days. But if you are actually going to another country, applying for a multi entry one year visa that is good for 90 day stays on each entry, then your visa is still valid and you can continue to use it.

Did you have to go out of the country to get it?

If so its not an extension.
