Hello i was wondering if someone could help me with a couple of questions that i am having difficulty finding the answers for in the forum pages.

Q.1: I entered Thailand on a multi entry tourist visa and my last entry will expire on February 23rd. I would like to get a 60 day extension based on the fact that i am married and legally registered my marriage here in Thailand back in December (we also have a baby on the way). I read somewhere on thaivisa that immigration will issue a 60 day extension if i produce the necessary paperwork, (marriage cert. and registration). Is this accurate? can i do this from a provincial office here in the northeast or do i have to go to Sathorn in Bkk.? Also what is the best reason to give on the application for requesting the extension, I would assume the obvious, for marriage purposes and to stay with my wife?

Q.2: I recently got hired at a school to teach and i am in the process of changing my tourist visa to a non B. My contract begins April 2nd. I am just waiting for everyone to "dot there I's and cross there T's" so i can take the necessary paper(s) to immigration. My employer is trying to speed up this process as much as she can but everyone here knows how that goes... This is another reason why I feel that it is in my best interest to get an extension as not to leave myself short. I was told by someone that i need something like 20 days on the end of my current visa to have it changed to avoid dealing with a bunch of BS... Does this sound accurate? Can i change a tourist visa to a non B at immigration here in Thailand? can this be done from a provincial office or do i have to go to Bkk? Or do i have to do this at a consulate outside of the country???

Any help with answers to these questions is greatly appreciated. Many thanks from a newbie.

1. You should be able to obtain the 60 day extension under section 7.23 of immigration order 606/2006 to visit wife and will need TM.7/4x6cm photo, 1,900 baht, Passport/copy, Marriage certificate/copy, Wife ID card/copy, Wife home register/copy. Have her with you.

2. The change/visa issue requires 21 days or more remaining. If there is any problem it is relatively easy to obtain the required visa in Laos or Malaysia once you have the paperwork.
