I have a small problem, im a 34yr old construction site manager married with a Thai wife. We are looking at moving back to Thailand but i want to work there or the surrounding countries in a similar position. My question is has anybodyelse managed the same or can somebody give some advice on this???

I know nothing about the industry but I have some friends who are in manufacturing around Lamb Chabang near Pattaya. There were (are ?) construction companies advertising in Pattaya saying they had western profesionals in charge but I've heard nothing for a while now.

My mate worked as a quantity surveyor in Thailand for a number of years. He had crap spoken Thai and no written Thai. So as you are more qualified than him you should be able to find work. Be prepared for a big salary cut though. As another poster hinted, working over here, particularly in construction, will give you a whole new perspective.

I hope you are able to speak the local language fluently, as well as know all the particulars of the local construction trade.

thanks for the input!

Best wishes-- no need for Thai or any other language besides English, just a plus if you have it.

Not clear why A2396 posts, or why he/she hasn't been banned for consistently useless and mean posts.

no problem, when you work on building sites for 18yrs you develop a thick skin for pointless comments!!!
