It appears that the E20 will not be easy to get for now. There are only 7,200 Ford Focus E20 vehicles on the roads so I doubt I will see E20 nationwide for a while yet. I got the below from the PTT web site.

PTT Pcl, Thailand´s largest energy firm, and Bang Chak Petroleum Pcl on Tuesday began selling Gasohol E20 in Bangkok. The fuel is now on sale at 10 PTT stations and five Bang Chak Petroleum stations in metropolitan Bangkok, while the latter planned to raise sales by increasing the number of service station outlets to 20 in February.

The retail price of Gasohol E20 stands at Bt26.89 per litre, Bt6 cheaper than gasoline 95.

However, only the Ford Focus car can now consume Gasohol E20 while other models require engine adjustments. It is expected that other brands would introduce cars which could consume the fuel later this year.

The new Honda Accord is E20 capable, and I am sure there are already other vehicles out there too.

I saw it available somewhere near Bang Kae

The new Toyota Camry is E20 capable also. There are a few gas stations in Pattaya selling E20 as the taxis need to fill up here quite often when dropping off arrivals from the airport or from Bangkok.

I will try and find out which ones and post accordingly.

2008 Mazda 3 is also E20 certified.

Most cars will run on E20 also....the only serious problem being gaskets and other plastic parts that could deteriorate over time if they aren't specifically designed for the higher ethanol percentages. However, this will take years, and people always discount the future when they need to save money today.

In the short term, E20 looks cheaper and people will use it whether the car is certified or not. I expect E20 will become very popular as the price of oil continues to rise. Labor is pretty cheap in Thailand. I'd be interested to see a cost benefit analysis of using E20 vs. Gasohol 95 in a non certified engine assuming a need to tear down the engine and replace the sensitive components after 100,000 km.

I don't have the time, but if someone is bored I'd be curious to see the result.

I own a NISSAN Teana 230 JS v6 and apparently NISSAN Thailand's website states that it is also capable of using E20. However, I live in Chiang Mai.. are there any places offering E20 here? If not, I do not feel very comfortable changing. Do u know any places offering E20 in Chiang Mai?

Thanks jao ! :o:D

I would be interested to know if there are any too. Maybe better asking in the Chiang Mai forum...

The lady at the Honda shop on the Super Highway did tell us the closest E20 pump was in Saraphi, which isn't very convenient but more are apparently on the way.

The new 2008 Civic can also use E20

Coming from Toyota dealer, the new models are e20 : VIOS, YARIS (I did not check higher models...)

There is a gazoline station on the highway to Lamphun , near Chiangmai, who distribute E20. But the difference between E20 and Gasohol 91 seems to be very small ? Except that the new cars can be offered at a better price, I dont see so many advantages... compare to LPG.

By the way, Toyota dealer did not change the price for the new model, at list VIOS. Same price last year. No 5% rebate.

E20 is 29.19 and gasohol 91 is 29.69. Not much difference except cars needing 95 octane cannot use gasohol 91 octane.

Indeed, no-one seems to have noticed this small fact.

Nissan lowered its price, depending on model between 30K and 50K, passing the REDUCED excise tax onto the customer.

Toyota keeps quiet and puts the tax differnce in it's own pocket, how nice :o
