Recently, I had a bad time in locating a restaurant at lunch time driving from Hua Hin to Bangkok. Would appreciate any recommendation of a nice stop for lunch.

Find the small town of Don Hoi Lot on your roadmap (it's signed off the highway anyway) - lots of waterfront restaurants and a famous place for seafood, especially shellfish (hoi). Been there several times and always been good - personally prefer to push through the main drag and there are some slightly quieter restaurants just a little further on.

try "nantawan" retaurant , ( big green sign in thai) on the northbound lane about half a kilometer north of petcharat hospital.

they serve a small selection of delicious curries and soups.... best to eat there between 12 and 1pm as they tend to run out of food after that.

good coffee and a shop selling a large selection of thai cakes and packaged thai biscuit snacks.

Thank you, good to know for a quick lunch. Upcountry curry is the best when freshly served.

Possibly too soon out of Hua Hin for lunch? But probably the best Pad Thai in the Kingdom can be had in Tha Yang. A bit difficult to find the traditional wooden restaurant at first, but well worth the effort. All the locals know it well.
