Ms Fax Console Questions

Featured Replies

The MS fax (fxsclnt.exe) program is doing a reasonable job as far as receiving faxes is concerned but I have problems with dates on cover pages in outgoing faxes.

On two PCs the heading (supplied by the program at the very top of the page) shows 15/2/2551 22:16 ...... (date & time is only an example when I last tried it)

In the cover page the inserted date on one PC: 2/15/2008 10:16 PM....

on the other PC it shows: 15/2/2551 22:16:00.....

Is there any way I can get the outgoing faxes to show 15/2/2008 22:16.. in the header AND in the cover page?

Both PCs are set up the same as far as regional/time settings are concerned.

In all other software (incl. MS Office) date and time show as 15/02/2008 22:16.......

any ideas?

You have to check the formatof the Date in both computer. Somewhere the settings for to display the Date is wrong. It could be in the systems settings, in the program stting or so. You need to check all settings.

Are on both computer the same OS?

Cheers.

Thanks Reimar,

I've been through all possible locations where a date may be stored (even the bios settings are identical) but can't find out from where the MS fax (fxsclnt.exe) is obtaining the date/time stamp.

Both PCs are XP sp2 legit up-to date

I use it via a shortcut on the desktop (C:\WINDOWS\system32\fxsclnt.exe) and the cover page editor I use is here: (%SystemRoot%\system32\FxsCover.exe)

I believe you need to look in Control Panel/Regional Settings.

My main point is the year 2551.

All the settings are English (US) date dd/mm/yyyy but location is Thailand (I dare not change the location because it may affect other software).

The time stamp (AM/PM or 24hrs) is not a big issue and if the date shows mm/dd instead of dd/mm is also no big deal (let the recipient figure it out) but the year is an issue especially for recipients outside of TH.

The year should show 2008 in the auto fax header AND in the inserted date of the cover sheet.

Where does MS Fax get the date from?

As everyone knows 2551 is from the Thai calendar. :D

I had a similar problem some time ago with a photo editing program that suddenly stamped all the photos with the Thai dates.

Maybe it is not your FAX that is the problem but some other program hi-jacking the dates.

I can’t remember how I got mine back to normal dates so sorry "opalhort" can’t help you there. :o

Daffy.

:D
