Visa Withoit Onward Journey Or Return Ticket

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm planning to fly from India (kolkota) to Bangkok. From there I intend to mountain bike to Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Tibet, Nepal and back to India. So I do not have an onward journey/return ticket. I also intend taking on arrival visa at most border crossings or apply from one of the consulates in South East Asia.

Is this lack of onward/return ticket going to be a problem for me? Can't I show them my ininerary to convince them of my plans?

Thanks in advance

If you have a tourist visa for Thailand, it should not be a problem. Either a multiple entry or get a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand.

If you are brining your own bike, you might do a search on the forum. I seem to remember someone having to pay big bucks for import duties for thier bike and equipment.

Much would depend on where you are from.

Naka.

It indeed all depends from which country you are from. If you are from India, you will need to obtain a visa on arrival for Thailand (15 days, 1000 baht), and I do believe that they request proof of onward travel before they issue one.

If you qualify for visa exempt (there are 40 odd countries that qualify) then you technically also need proof of onward travel within those 30 days, but this is hardly ever checked at the airport, but airlines are known to hassle you.

Getting a tourist visa would ensure entrance into the country.

For some of the countries you have listed, you can indeed get a visa on arrival, not so for Vietnam and I guess you will need one in advance for China as well.

He will require visa's for all the places he intends to visit.

Assuming OP is from India, he will be able to get a visa on arrival at any border or airport in Cambodia, and at all border posts and airports (except the one between Laos and Cambodia) in Laos.

You will need an onward flight or a Thai Visa to be carried to Thailand by an airline.

Please post the relevant Cambodian Regulation for free entry of an Indian national.

I never claimed such a thing. Free entry is only for citizens of Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philipines, I said that OP can obtain a visa on arrival at any border and airport in Cambodia, fee is 20 USD.

edit: changed spelling of currency.
