Posting Clothes From Australia

Featured Replies

I am contemplating having a few of my favourite clothes sent here from Australia. Should only amount to a small box. For example, t-shirts, football boots, football shorts, sports holdall, tracksuits. None new, all pre-worn. What is the best way to go about this? Workmates tell me that if sent by ordinary post, I am risking theft, and having to pay exorbitant customs charges. They also advise me that if I ask my family to send it by courier (eg DHL, Federal Express), I still may have to pay exorbitant customs charges.

Anyone have any ideas or information? And yes, I realise I can buy clothes here. The clothes in question are some of my favourites. And I am having difficulties finding my size in football boots here in Bangkok.

I can't imagine you would have to pay customs charges on a small box of personal items. I've had heaps of stuff sent to me from Australia and never have to pay more then the 7 baht to the postman for delivering the big parcel!! Normal post should be fine, just make sure it's packaged securely and the green label from the ozzy po states what's in the package. Completely understand wanting your favourite clothes here! :o

Thanks for your response, Rue Fang.

Before I commit to having clothes sent here, anyone else have any views? Has anyone else organised to have a small box of gear/clothes sent here by ordinary post? If yes, any problems?

I heard that if you have skid marks on your underwear, they will confiscate them. Don't really know why, but it always seems to be that one customs officer with the tight tousers.

Even Thai's know how Aussies dress ... So no worries mate :o

Naka.
