Hi all,

Just wanna need help ...i hold a non immigrant visa multiple...and now i would like to know how and where can i obtain a driving licence and do they have option like manual and automatic licence and do i have to take the actually driving or just the law test....

i do not hold any other driving licence ...so this is going to be my first attemp

The paperwork details are quite well covered in the pattaya forum.

If you do not have a driving licence, then you need to turn up with your car.

You can do the written test, I believe they have version in English, in the morning and then the driving test in the afternoon.

The driving test is ludicrously simple and does not really test you driving skill at all.

At our local office you have to drive down a short slope between two rows of pole,

make a left turn (remember to signal),

then stop close to the curb (25cm) as though parking.

Then reverse up the same path.

Lastly reverse park between 4 poles marking other cars already parked.

The test can be done in an automatic or a manual, there is only one class of licence for cars.

PS If you are really just starting to drive, I suggest you get a good few miles under you belt, under supervision and the advice of a friend, to build up your driving skills.

Many Thai drivers have graduated straight from bullock carts to cars!

The hardest part is understanding the appallingly translated written exam...
