Internet Explorer 7 & Media Player 10 -- Worth The Upgrades?

Featured Replies

I have I.E. 6 installed with xp on a 2006 laptop. Is it worth upgrading to Explorer 7? Free download from Microsoft?

Also, I have Media Player 9 ... tried upgrading to 10 when it came out a year or two back, but hated it. Is it any better now? Thanks for any tips.

IE 7 has tabbed browsing which makes it better immediately but firefox has just launched its beta of 3 so check that out.

As for wmp I use wmp11, because it is easy to stream vids, pics, and music to my xbox 360 I have no complaints with it. Just wish the 360 would support subtitles.

IE7 is a much better and more secure browser, so well worth the upgrade. I too use WMP11 and it's still my preferred media player.

Same. But i dont us IE if i can help it.

IE7 is a must, it's the first Microsoft browser that can stand up to Firefox and Opera - security, funcionality, add ons, IE6 is a leftover dinosaur from the nineties.

Firefox 2.0 to browse the web, with IE7 as a backup, VLC Media Player along with Media Player Classic I have Windows Media Player 11 but I have a philsophical problem with DRM. Between VLC Media Player and Media Player Classic you play pretty much anything.

I reverted back to Explorer 6. 7 looks fuzzy and I can't reduce the large size of the top taskbar. Plus, the tabs stink.

I also reverted back to Media Player 9. 10 and 11 don't have the scroll bar which is essential for media.

Really don't know why they bother 'refining' already-good products!

Hi :o

I have IE 7 but don't use it - i use Firefox 2 and/or Netscape 9.

Media player i too have WMP 11, along with Vista Codec Pack it plays just about every format. But as of recent i am using GOM Player more and more - i have a skin for it that makes it look just like WMP but GOM has a number of advanced functions that neither WMP nor VLC offer.

Best regards.....
