February 28, 200818 yr first of all, is it legal to buy handheld or portable GPS device in thailand? i heard in some countries, this is regulated by government intel guys. i'm not referring to those gadgets with map navigation, just a simple portable device which gives you Latitude and Longitude coordinates. i've been trying to look for one in panthip or fortune but can't find what i'm looking for. thanks for the help.
February 28, 200818 yr i've been trying to look for one in panthip or fortune but can't find what i'm looking for. But you did find something? I have seen GPS units on sale in both places. Many malls now have them on sale. Mobile phones, as common as dirt these days, have GPS built in. Google Thai GPS for any number of providers. I have bought three GPS units since I have stayed in Thailand. Each time I bought on the net from a US location and had it courier delivered as the prices were always cheaper.

February 29, 200818 yr ESRI (www.esrith.com) or Gadgetrend (www.gadgetrend.com). Simple hand-held GPS with no maps, just coordinates and simple tracking. GPS are legal in thailand, newer cars are fitted with them now-a-days.
