palm
Heard some disturbing news regarding a traffic accident, involving the owner of La Opera.Any info appreciated. Apparently he was in a fatal motorcycle crash on Sukhumvit last week. I was told he was riding quite fast when someone ran out across the main road, and he swerved to miss them and slammed into one of the BTS pillars. I think his gf was on the back but I can't remember all the details. My friend who knew him quite well told me this weekend.

I was told his GF died also.
JohnBKKK
Very sorry to hear this, knew him, if not too well, since the place opened - my condolences to his family - he brought some great Italian food to Bangkok at a time when there wasn't much available and from a number of conversations we had, it was clear that he enjoyed what he was doing, sad news John
PadThaiGuy
Have some great memories of La Opera. LaOpera was one of the first Italian places in Bangkok. I recall he had branches in Australia, Burma, Laos too. Sold them all, retired, then recently opened a new place off Asoke.
ray08
The person who died was not Rossano the ex owner of Opera ,but Paolo the wine bar manager , a very good man and a loving single father to a 9 year old boy , very very sad story and a really nice person,
