Cat Hinet Billion 8500 Adsl Modem Connects, But...

Featured Replies

Hi -

My simple connection through the Cat supplied Billion SHDSL modem-router (BIPAC 8500) is fine, configured for PPPoE.

I try to connect wirelessly, so configure the modem for bridged mode, and configure the Wireless router (a Zyxel 4500 wifi hotspot) as PPPoE. Result, no internet connection, WAN status inactive. Any ideas anyone? Windows does connect to the configured wireless network.

Thanks, Colin.

Have now obtained a linksys wireless router and the result is the same. I suspect there's something amis with the Billion, either config-wise or a defect. Am going to try with another adsl modem.

Maybe monty can explain how to do that because he's using the GFDSL as well.

Any idea monty?

Cheers.

Colin, first thing to check is whether the gateway lan addresses of modem/router and Zyxel are the same. i.e. 192.168.1.1 (bipac) and 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.x for the Zyxel.

Good luck.
