Hi;

I've looked around everywhere, and am still really confused - can you help please?

I'm a UK citizen, self employed and have been staying on and off in chiang mai since december on 30 day tourist visas, and have just ben informed about the 90 day rule, and am running short on time.

i was here for 4 days in 1-14 september, jus over 180 days ago

then 46 days from 15 december- 4 february (mei sai visa run inbetween)

i was out of thailand 4-26th feb

now i am back in chiang mai, and need to either renew my tourist visa by next week or leave?

i was planning a trip from chiang khong to laos for a few days to o this, but am concerned about isues re-entering, especially as i have ented an apartmnt here and have all mys stuff inside

i plan to leave for malaysia around the 10th of april till 3rd may and then to return for about 4 weks before returning to the uk for a while

i plan to be based here, but due to work will be in and out of thailand a lot

so, if i include the mei sai crossing that is 3o day visias already, but not yet 90 days - will they allow me back in?

what should i do after this - penang/KL? if so again i will need multi entry, can i get this same/next day easy enough?

any other ideas?

thanks

'was out of thailand 4-26th feb'

'need to either renew my tourist visa by next week or leave?"

did you get 60 days or 30 days?

well either way round, you would be better off going back to uk and visit a thai embassy/ consulte a get a 1 year multi entry and if your work involves thailand enquire with either them or look at top of this page and see sunbelt about a work permit!

i THINK WITHOUT LOOKING AT EXACTLY WHAT DATES AND WHAT VISA YOU HAVE YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GO OUT GET TOURIST VISA BUT YOUR COMING AND GOING A LOT, YOU MIGHT AS WELL DO THE JOB RIGHT!

GOOD LUCK

WHEN YOU REPLY ON HERE JUST SCROLL DOWN TILL AFTER IT SAYS QUOTE, THEN TYPE IN STEVE,

I WOULDNT WAIT TILL YOUR TIME IS UP COS I CANT REMEMBER THE EXACT LAW REF 180 DAYS IN THEN STAY OUT 180, BUT GO THIS WEEK COMING EARLY TO VIENTIENE IN LOS, IS THE BEST AT MOMENT, AND SPEND AN HOUR READING THESE ALL SAME AS ME AND YOU,

CLICK ON THIS BELOW

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...=158561&hl=

AND READ UP ON THE TOURIST X2 BITS, YOU SHOULD GET 60 DAYS ON 2 DIFFERENT ENTRYS, WHICH MIGHT BE HELPFULL,

GOOD LUCK AND REPORT BACK ON THAT THREAD ANYTHING POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE, FOR REST OF US.

CHEERS CHRIS

FORGOT

THEN READ THIS TO SEE WHY PENNANG ISNT YA BEST OPTION AT MO, NOT IMPOSSIBLE, BUT SOME FAILED ONES!

And when you reply here please do not use all CAPS :o

It sounds like you have only been using visa exempt entries. If that is the case, you used 46 days before, and now are on another one where you get 30 days. Your 46 days is probably really counted as 47 days if you left and came back on the same day because it counts as the last day of the first entry and the first day of the second entry.

So after you leave this time, you could probably come back on a visa exempt entry for around another 12 days. This would not get you to when you want to leave to Malaysia, so you are going to need a tourist visa. I would recommend that you go to Vientiane Laos and get a double entry tourist visa. If for some reason they do not give you a double entry tourist visa, you can still use a single entry tourist visa. If you have a single entry, make sure that you get a re-entry permit prior to going to Malaysia. This will keep your stay active for the full two months and allow you to re-enter after coming back from Malaysia and you can then go to immigration and get an extension of stay after you return from Malaysia to cover the remaining days until you return to the UK.

Once back in the UK, check out the Hull consulate for a one year, multiple entry, non-imm O visa.

THANKS FOR THE AVICE, I WAS THINKING OF TRYIN CHIANG KHONG TOMORROW, ASKING BEFORE I CROSS. IF NOT I MAY HAVE TO FLY TO LOAS ON FRIDAY - IS IT EASY TO GET TO THE CONSULATE, DO I NEED ANY PAPERWORK IN ADVANCE, AND ARE THINGS DONE SAME DAY?

THANKS

I got a double entry visa in Vientiane, Laos 2 weeks ago, and it's no sweat.

Here is a little walk trough from you get to the border at Nong Khai.

In Nong Khai, you simply take a tuk tuk to the border at Friendship Bridge. Stamp out of Thailand and take the 20 baht bus across the bridge. Before crossing into Laos you need a visa for Laos. They will issue you a 30 day visa at the border. There are two windows at the visa office. One where you hand in your passport and visa application, allong with the fee. The fee is 35US$. You will also need two passport pictures. If you do not have US$ you can change from dollars to Baht about 5 meters further down. If you pay with Baht, the fee is 1500 Baht.

Stamp into Laos with you visa, and on the other side there will be plenty of taxis, Tuk tuks and other offers of transportation. AGree on a price and they will take you straight to the Thai Embassy in Vientiane (about 20 Km).

Outside the Embassy there will be some touts offering to copy your passport and fill in your aplication for 100 baht. Tell them to "#¤%!" off, as you naturally already have a copy of your passports ID page, which is the only documentation you need.

Fill in your visa aplication and on the Visa type, write Tourist Visa X 2, or Double Entry. There will probably be a long line and no shelter from the sun, so bring and umbrella or wear a hat.

You hand over the papers, with a passport picture attached. Then you go inside the building and pay the 2000 baht fee. Now you have to wait until next day, at 1300hrs to get the passport back. They will not do this same day. So get a room, and relax in Vientiane.

Oh and show up early for passport pick up. When I was there I arrived 45 minutes early and 30 minutes before they opened the gates, the line was stretching far down the pavement.

Good luck.

Taxi to the consulate. Submit the application in the morning, pick up the next afternoon. Just the normal paperwork, application, passport photos, copy of passport.
