No Visa - Need Visa?!

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm a 29 yr old Canadian who entered Thailand without a visa in early September. I plan on spending more time in Bangkok, maybe as long as seven months, as my longtime girlfriend is working here on an internship.

So I am looking for advice on how best to proceed from here. Am I resigned to monthly border runs? Can I/How can I get a tourist visa? Are there other options?

Currently I am job hunting in Bangkok for an english teaching job. Not sure if that is relevant other than to indication I may teach here for the next 7-12 months.

From what I read I should have applied for a visa back in canada before arriving...but i didn't, so any advice on where to go from here would be appreciated.

Someone please tell me where to go?! :o

30 day visa runs are under threat. Go outside Thailand and go for a double entry Tourist visa. With judicious use, that'll give you a 6 month saty ( with two extensions and one border crossing )

Penang is probably the easiest place to go for the Tourist visa.

One can only wonder why they don't think this out BEFORE they leave home Astral.

I agree.

We do seem to give the same advice over and over again.

Perhaps the search facility is broken??

I wonder whether our Canadian brother is on the verge of overstay, or has he hit the road for Malaysia. He went quiet suddenly.
