So tired of hearing about the actions of the retarded. It seems to me all too often that the main mentality is "I can do whatever I want, I WAS BORN HERE" See it all the time, hanging around outside 7/11 after hours drinking. 16 - 25 years old, hardly bothering to move when I want to enter the door they are blocking. I speak their language quite well, I understand all they're saying. Good thing I know they're just waiting for me to give them an excuse to jump me, all brave 10-12 of them. This excuse I will not give them, even when I've had a night out and am not thinking straight. I just keep wondering when the day will come when they don't need an excuse. Retarded cowards

I've read similar to above on other furums but the country was not Thailand, it was UK.

Where was this ... Pennywell in Sunderland? Cowley in Oxford? Meadowell in North Shields? Hartcliffe in Bristol? Not much different from Pattaya in Thailand, but at least it's warmer here.

Overall, Thai youth afford Johnny Foreigner a lot more respect than teenagers in the UK.

...we whites are getting knocked off or in some other way done very badly by some Thais and generally not respected enough by Thais as fellow humans who whether they like it or not have the right to exist in THEIR land (of smiles).

I think the main problem with most "whites" is that they have never been the minority race in a given population. Apparently, some don't like being "the other" and being vulnerable to abuse by the majority population. It's okay to make fun of and mistreat the blacks, "Packies," and assorted other minorities back home but it doesn't feel so good when the shoe is on the other foot :o

Respect has to be earned...and the behavior of some tourists and expatriates makes one wonder we are allowed to be here at all!

Correct!

Respect has indeed to be earned, but I suppose that works two ways?

That said, is it wise to bite the hand that feeds you?

And I cannot loose the feeling that a big part of the the Thai people, well, dare I say it, are short term thinkers.

What would all the Thai people in Pattaya do if the Farang would disappear?

So sorry, but "black" people are also considered a kind of Farang.

And yes, Thai people discriminate.

And yes, I have been in Pattaya, only once in my life, and will never go there again.

Why?

I feel ashamed for the way so many farang behave.

However, should I be Thai, I would also be very much ashamed for the treatment of farang by my own people and the authorities.

I think we all know what I mean by that.

So respect, hmmmmm, yes definitely two ways.

Anyone understand a word of this :o

I have been treated with courtesy by just about all Thai I come in contact with...and I treat them the same. I don't need to be "respected" by Thais as that is something accorded one's boss, teachers, religious or government leaders, etc. So I wouldn't use that term but courtesy...yes. I get and give it in equal measure.

Police are aware of the name of the alleged murderer, a 27-year-old originally from Nakhon Sawan, and her accomplice, and are waiting for an official arrest warrant to be issued before they search for the pair and take them into custody. Apparently the pair made off with a mobile and about 3,000 baht in cash.

Although the police know the woman's identity, they do not want to alert her by revealing it.

It depends on your jurisdiction. The rules in some states and localities are much different than those in others. There have actually be cases of customers killing criminals with a concealed firearm and all they got was a well done from law enforcement. Of course my state has a concealed weapons law that allows ordinary citizens to carry with a permit that is easily obtained.

ONE-LEGGED FINN FATALLY STABBED IN PATTAYA CONDO

A Finnish national, with an amputated right leg, suffering from multiple stab wounds, was found early this morning, 25 March, 2008, attempting to crawl naked out of his Jomtien Grand Condotel room, crying for help. He was rushed to hospital, but died soon after. Police discovered signs of fighting in his room, blood covering the floor, a knife and discarded women's underwear. Police suspect a bar girl was the assailant.

Receiving a report of murder at 2.00 am, Pol.Lt.Col. Ekadit Srimul, from Dong Tan Police Station, arrived with his assistants and the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team at Grand Condotel, Jomtien Beach, to find Mr. Erikki Aal Tonen (64), a one-legged Finnish national, naked with over 50 stab wounds to his body, still alive, but barely breathing. He was taken Pattaya Memorial hospital, but Mr. Tonen died soon after from the severity of his wounds.

Blood covered the whole floor of the room, extending out onto the balcony. There was evidence of a considerable struggle with the room's contents strewn everywhere. The TV was still on and a false leg was on the floor. Significant evidence included a one-foot long knife, covered with blood stains, a brown bra and a pair of black knickers on the floor.

Police Superintendent Nopadol questioned Miss Jitra (nicknamed Maew) Sumreelorb (22), a witness who rents the room next door and was told that she had heard the foreign man screaming for help earlier. She came out of her room to investigate and found Mr. Tonen, stabbed and crawling on the balcony floor, pleading for help. Miss Jitra immediately informed Mr. Chaicharn Charnsin (43), a security guard and called 191. She said she had not seen the assailant.

From their questioning of neighbours and security, police ascertained that, normally, Mr. Tonen lived with his Thai wife, but she was currently in Bangkok and had left Mr. Tonen home alone. One witness reported that there had been a pretty, fair-complexioned girl with long hair, around 165 cm in height, who had come to sleep in the room.

There were sounds of a subsequent fight and the young woman later disappeared. Police have informed Mr. Tonen's wife and requested her return to Pattaya for questioning. Police will check the condo's CCTV and search for finger prints and more evidence around the room. Police hope to find the woman suspect as soon as possible.

Well, you coulldnt make this up ! i liked this bit,.The TV was still on and a false leg was on the floor. Significant evidence included one-foot, long knife,( well i edited it a bit ) what the he11 is the wife going to make of it ? jeez

Taking up with BGs...what do you expect :D And if the reports are correct...he had ample warning she was one to be avoided :o

To die for a mobile and B 3000...what a way to go :D

I entirely agree, if anyone expects a mia noy to be with them for anything other than money they are clueless,. even thai bgs will have no respect for a man like this whatever they tell you !,.i met one that was in an apartment being paid for by a married farang, she also had a new car, as soon as the farang had gone her thai husband would return, he was always dressed in overalls so that if he got caught there they would say he had come to fix the air-con, im sorry but most get what they deserve,( not that im saying anyone should be killed ) ,

Are you serious? People taking up with BGs should expect to be knifed to death?

Shouldn't expect to all walk happily into a golden sunset together, either. All the ingredients for disaster were there already prior to it actually happening. :D

You never know a bg til you have seen one in a temper, i have and for that reason chose never to have a relationship with one again,

It didn't take you long to wear out your welcome with me number9999. When you begin to compare law enforcement in the USA and UK with that in Thailand, your credibility meter hit 0. Having been a cop in the USA for 20 years and training police officers all over the world, I know the difference. I doubt that I'll be responding to any of your other posts because I don't think you will be around Thai Visa very long.

By the way, I agree with the Royal Thai Police decision not to reveal the identity of the suspects until they were apprehended. We usually follow this strategy in the early stages of an investigation and only reveal the suspects' names if warrants are issued for their arrest and we believe they have fled the area.

PATTAYA POLICE RECONSTRUCT ATTEMPTED MURDER OF ONE-LEGGED FINN.

At 10 am, on March 29, Pattaya Police took Ms. Nipaporn (Ann) Pootoh, the 6-month-pregnant woman who was arrested in connection with the March 25 killing of Mr. Erikki Aal Tonen, the one-legged Finn, in Jomtien Grand Condotel for a reconstruction of the attempted murder. A crowd of interested onlookers had assembled at the incident location, eager to view the proceedings in this high profile case

Pattaya Police commanded her to explain the circumstances and show them exactly what had happened on the night of March 25. The reconstruction took a total of 30 minutes, during which Ms. Ann explained more clearly that she had been seeing Erikki Aal Tonen for the last year on a regular basis, whenever his wife was not at home.

On the night the attempted murder had occurred, she recalled that Mr. Tonen had phoned and asked her to visit him. She told police that she had asked her new boyfriend to drive her to her assignation with Mr. Tonen. In the interim, she maintained, the boyfriend had waited for her outside the room.

While she was in the bathroom, after having sex with the victim, she heard a commotion coming from the room outside and opened the bathroom door, only to see Mr. Pakpoom repeatedly hitting the victim and demanding that Mr. Tonen open the safe, but he refused.

Ms. Ann maintained that she had tried to stop her boyfriend, but Mr. Pakpoom wouldn't listen and continued stabbing the victim until he was almost dead, finally dragged her out of the apartment. Mr. Tonen, subsequently died from his wounds in Pattaya Memorial Hospital

Pattaya Police have informed the media that they now know that Mr. Pakpoom is hiding with his friend in Rayong province and they expect to arrest the suspect imminently.

Well, what have all you posters who were slagging off bar girls got to say for yourselves now ?

Guess the guy got what he deserved because of who the bar girl's friends are. In fact, there's a few Thais in jail for murder, not just this girl's supposed boyfriend assuming he's found guilty. Let's just regard all Thais as murderers then and save ourselves the trouble of having to differentiate between sho's good and who's bad.

There is far too much sanctimonious posturing goes on in TV. If karma works in the way it is believed to, it will be those same sanctimonious bast@rds who we will be mourning in threads such as this.

The room...what a dump :o

I thought this fella was reported to be one of the successful and upstanding Finnish businessmen in Patters...

You have been in the room where the unfortunate man lived with his Thai lawyer wife? In one report Grand Condotel was described as upmarket.

This was a home of lawyers. Most, especially in the west, live in shark tanks. A condotel would be a big step up for them.

We're really talking about being stabbed 50 times here, not the prospect of marrying one, but having said that, even non-Thai ladies seem hot-headed...it's nothing exclusive to BGs.

"Hello there - we are policeman and we know you have committed murder, but we are waiting for an arrest warrant - so you have several hours to make your escape!"

No wonder crime is so high in Thailand -nobody ever gets arrested or punished!

Thailand is rapidly transforming from the land of smiles to the land of death for many farangs.

Westerners considering making Thailand their home, is still one of the safest countries, crime wise, but should be careful who they associate with here.

Middle aged and old guys to learn that pretty young girls are more interested in the contents of their wallets more than the contents of their pants. The sole aim of a cash hungry prostitute is to gain as much as possible by doing as little as possible. Haggle and they may become vicious. Old Farangs in long term relationships with young girls are normally being scammed along. Sometimes a girl becomes bored with a Farang, but still wants the money or if the walking ATM machine stops paying out, could have dire consequences for the guy.

Those who become involved with crime, corruption and tread the same turf as Thai criminals are pushing their luck.

For Farang residents that abide by the laws, keep their heads down and don't get involve with unsavoury people, will have a safe, long and happy stay in Thailand.

I have some thoughts on this one:

why not follow the money? now that he is dead. who gets his money? his wife?

funny enough her alibi is waterproof by being in BKK, but maybe this woman was paid to finish him off? for sure she was very determined to do so. 50 times being stabbed takes quiete some time. you REALLy want him dead.

just some thoughts....... maybe Im far off.

I

just some thoughts....... maybe Im far off.

And maybe not. But don't expect the Police to even consider investigating this possibility. Unless of course the perpetrators who are known to the Police, are arrested and turn the tables on the wife. But if they have any sense they will no longer be in Thailand thanks to the ridiculous requirement to have an arrest warrant before being apprehended. Do Judges work on Sundays?

The stuff Lamabababor commented on above is old news dated 25 March - the day the man was murdered. Since then police have arrested the woman involved and she was at Grand Condotel on 29th to re-enact the scene. The police know who the man is who was involved and are looking for him. That's how I understand it.

However, from my experience. I am not just thinking of Thailand but also the USA. These days their are a lot of people who have little if any respect for others. Throw in racism and bigoted views into the equation. You will find that their are many people, of many stripes, who are filled with hatred. To be a target of this all you have to be is a little different than they are! In the USA they don't usually parade in hoods any more. They are much more cleverer than that. They are still as malicious and persistent as they ever were.

Don't be so quick to besmirch the Thai Police. If the woman cannot pay the bribes or make bail she will do time. You cannot fillet O'Finn in this country and get away with it unless you've got connections.

Do you not find anything incongruous in this statement? :o

The BiB need no assistance from me to besmirch their reputation.
