Where is the best place to shop for furniture in Bangkok? I have only seen furniture sold in shopping malls (which have to be over priced due to high rents) and a couple of small boutiques lined along sukhumwit.

I am interested in moderate to high end furnishings. Any good 'warehouse' type stores in a cheaper part of town?

What discount should I try to get for every x00,000 spent? Thanks.

There is no "best place", since this is a relative thing, depending on what type of stuff you are after, price level, etc.

From the little info you provide, I would look at Index, Modernform, Podium and Apina (google for details). We used the latter for furnishing a study and two bedrooms, and we are very happy with the result. Modular stuff that can be combined to suit virtually any room. I would not use Apina for my living room though, but that is a matter of individual taste.

I am sure BKK based posters will be able to give you a lot more detailed info, but you can't go terribly wrong with any of the 4 above.

Good luck in your hunt!

realmadrid,

try the mall bank kapi, 3rd or 4th floor, a nice selection in there, also seacon square, has a similair but larger collection of stores.

some very nice furniture in both shopping complexes, some of it is not cheap, but its quality wood and finishing, and should last a life time.

as the previous poster mentioned, its a matter of budget and taste, personally the wife would rather have a sparsely furnished house of quality furniture than one full of cheap and nasty furniture that will fall to bits in a few years.

Visit Impact Muang Tong Thani, the furniture exhibition is now on.
