OK.

I have been trying to search for a similar post to what I am about to ask, but nothing seems to be a match.

Basically, my girlfriend would like to visit me in the UK for 3 or 4 weeks in August when it is her birthday. Currently, she is waiting for complications after a miscarriage to subside before she goes back to work as a promotional MC for the drinks companies she works for.

I have a few questions and would be very grateful for advice from members.

1. As she has not signed a contract of employment and is paid her wage each night by her boss, I am wondering what we should enter in the finances section of the Visa Application Form, as it asks for documented proof of earnings.

2. I believe the Immigration Agent will also be looking for a reason for her to return to Thailand, will we have to get her manager to compose a letter for her stating that she will be still employed on her return, and would an already purchased return airline ticket help us in this respect.

3. Lastly, I read on another post on this forum that the Applications Centre has imposed stricter controls as to the issuing of VISA's. Could anyone clarify what these stricter guidelines are?

Many thanks in advance,

Billy

Billy,

To answer your questions in the order you ask them:-

1. As she has not signed a contract of employment and is paid her wage each night by her boss, I am wondering what we should enter in the finances section of the Visa Application Form, as it asks for documented proof of earnings.

Enter the truth and provide written evidence from her employer which states for how long she has worked at the company, her job title, her wage, and the date she is expected to return to work. The letter should be on proper company notepaper and not scrawled on the back of a fag packet.

2. I believe the Immigration Agent will also be looking for a reason for her to return to Thailand, will we have to get her manager to compose a letter for her stating that she will be still employed on her return, and would an already purchased return airline ticket help us in this respect.

See above

3. Lastly, I read on another post on this forum that the Applications Centre has imposed stricter controls as to the issuing of VISA's. Could anyone clarify what these stricter guidelines are?

The visa application centre does not actually decide whether a visa is issued or not: they simply take in the papers and pass them to the embassy for consideration. Consequently, although the Immigration Rules may be being toughened up, this is across the board and not necessarily particular to Bangkok.

Scouse.
