Land Transport chief removed

BANGKOK: -- Department of Land Transport Director-General Silapachai Charukasemratana was unexpectedly transferred to an inactive post following a bribe-taking charge Wednesday.

Transport Permanent Secretary Chaisawat Kittipornpaibul said the transfer with immediate effect followed a secret investigation which found evidence that Silapachai took bribes.

"The investigation found complaints of bribery taking from companies which bid for the department's projects," he said.

They will get the same salary and benefits as before. Clearly he made the same mistake as Thaksin, his crime was failing to share. In the inactive post he will most likely now work directly for the private sector as a hired lobbyist.

all the pay and benefits and no work is what the average civil servant does here....

having said that, all the pay for someone like him would probably not be more than 40 to 50K per month...

This story gives me a strange feeling of 'deja vu' ? Wasn't there a similar case a couple of years ago ?
