Transport Permanent Secretary Chaisawat Kittipornpaibul said the transfer with immediate effect followed a secret investigation which found evidence that Silapachai took bribes. Clearly he made the same mistake as Thaksin, his crime was failing to share. In the inactive post he will most likely now work directly for the private sector as a hired lobbyist. Funny how they quickly shove him in an inactive post simply on charges when the PPP themselves have many people in the same position refusing to step aside while under investigations, even giving Apirak a hard time. It's not punishment--it's a reward. all the pay and benefits and no work is what the average civil servant does here.... having said that, all the pay for someone like him would probably not be more than 40 to 50K per month... Actually, I think one of the biggest problems in the world is that in most countries, most of the time, you do not go to jail for taking bribes. Actually, I think one of the biggest problems in the world is that in most countries, most of the time, you do not go to jail for taking bribes. It always seems that the person giving the bribes goes to jail but the government official rarely does Do these guys in Thailand stay on the inactive post forever, or just until they are found guilty and then they lose the inactive post also?
