JetsetBkk
The sad thing is that this family seems to be sh*tting on the entire country and everyone in it! Thailand seems to be going the way that most of Africa has. Could the Land of Smiles become the next Zimbabwe? Hmm, strange, I was just thinking the same thing - not about Zimbabwe, but about comparing the state of Thailand with some of the countries in Africa. It's a little worrying. Gonsalviz
When my wife's family came to visit our house, she said they all became constipated for the week they were there. The only asian toilet we had was being used as a drain for the washing machine.
sriracha john
Not sure if it's Mr. Happy Toilet or if it's his New Lieutenant brother.... Pub Owner Files for Defamation against Former MP Candidate The owner of "Sherbet" pub has filed a defamation complaint against former member of Parliament candidate, Leena Jung, after the latter claimed that the pub refused to offer help to its paralyzed employee. He also denies that the Interior Minister's son is the owner of the pub. Somsak Onsee, managing director of the company that owns Sherbet pub, has filed a report with a police officer at Thonglor police station against a colorful activist and former MP candidate Leena Jung for defamation. The report was filed after Leena Jung accused the pub of not offering assistance to its former employee, Somchai Suwannet, who became paralyzed as a result of a brawl in the pub. Somsak maintained that the management hospitalized Somchai and took care of his medical expenses until his discharge. He said the pub did not fire Somchai, but the employee moved to an unknown location and his pay checks were not collected. The managing director insists that the report has been filed in order to set the record straight and protect the pub's reputation. He also confirmed that the venue is not owned by the son of Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung. All of the Interior Minister's three sons are infamous for their aggressive nature and their frequent brawls at various pubs and night entertainment venues. The three now claim they are reformed and have stopped frequenting pubs and bars. - Thailand Outlook (today) Edited April 29, 2008 by sriracha john
Bagwan
If you won't squat to poo and pee - GO HOME Really? This IS home for many of us. How elderly and infirm Thais manage to use their basis bogs is a mystery to me. When we built a house in Lomsak for my wife's sister and other family members they insisted that they wanted a Thai toilet. I wanted something much more comfortable and contemporary but was was persuaded otherwise. Three years down the road I have just returned from those nether regions, after taking refuge from the Pattaya Songkran madness, and one of the events while I was there was the replacement of the hole in the floor with a proper crapper - at their request. Another small victory was getting them to use the shower at long last instead of throwing water over themselves outside the back door.

sriracha john
Terrible timing... what with Mr. Happy Toilet moving up on the career ladder and out of his current position atop a commode... but it's good to know that prior to leaving, he conducted a personal survey of over 50,000 shitters... he found something he was good at. A hindrance to completing the survey in a timely manner was reportedly Samak spending over an hour in a number of them.... Public Health expedites effort to promote clean and accessible public toilets The Minsitry of Public Health reports that a recent survey found only 31% of public toilets in the nation have met ministry's standards, prompting the ministry to step up its development strategy for 2009. Deputy Minister of Public Health Wicharn Meenchainant commented on the ministry's push to develop national public toilet standards in three areas, namely, hygiene, availability and safety since 2005 saying that a recent survey found 15,818 public toilets meeting standards from a total of 51,025. The figure was far short of the 60% set for 2008 with most of the toilets reaching standards located in department stores, followed by those located in hospitals, tourist destinations, public transport stations, markets and government buildings. The majority of public toilets that did not meet standards were located in religious sites and train stations. The ministry has also called on all locations to provide handicap accessible toilets as well as facilities accessible to the elderly. Currently, only 10% of public toilets are accessible to the handicap and elderly. The ministry has set April 1st to 7th of every year to be the promotional week for its public toilet policy and will publicize the importance of hygiene and development to all sides. - ThaiNews / 2008-10-
