Still healthy to travel?

Featured Replies

Ok question is....

As you get older into your mature years are you finding travel much harder on your health ?

Last trip 4 weeks was particularly hard on my travel fitness although I walk the treadmill most days and in my workplace usually do 6-8k steps a day

But ..picking up luggage putting on the conveyer belt ...walking to immigration, climbing up stairs , picking up luggage, dragging backs , standing , balancing all requires a degree of fitness

I'm fit I have a physical job...and yet sometimes I wondered how hard it was sometimes

How the hell do you guys go who drank everyday or are obese ?

Omg ... disgusting

You need to start lifting weights.

I used to pack spare clothes; now half my suitcase is just heat rub, ibuprofen, and knee braces. Airports have quietly turned travel into an Olympic decathlon without telling us.

I agree and I'm relatively fit

Look I did have an argument with a guy coming out of the domestic airport who pushed past me to line up at the security baggage conveyor belt

No.idea why the fat old man pushed past me he was getting on the same plane as me anyway

On arrival at the airport the old guy couldn't even lift his luggage up 4 steps

I immediately saw him struggling as his poor wife tried to help him

I immediately called out to him " you want me to lift it fatty boomsticks" I shouted to him

Hey fatty boomsticks I said as I lifted my own luggage up the steps then immediately went down the steps and back up lol

Maybe travel light, hand luggage only

The image of you doing a victory lap up and down the stairs just to rub it in is brilliant. Travel fitness score: You 1, Conveyor Belt Cowboy 0.

Just wondering - with a mouth like yours, how have you managed to keep chewing your food?

I read his whiny post, then had the same immediate thought, in addition to the fact that why assume others are heavy drinkers and obese. I don't know anyone like that. Maybe he's describing himself?

Then I read your post and saw that you already nailed it. I normally travel with at least 25 kilos in my suitcase, plus a heavy carry on. It's the long flights that are the tiring part. Not the handling of the luggage.

Charming. You seem to make friends everywhere you go. What's your secret?
