Bangladesh Airlines Makes Emergency Landing At Don Mueang Airport

Featured Replies

BANGKOK, April 8 (TNA) - A Bangladesh airlines flight made an emergency landing at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport Tuesday morning after an unruly passenger reportedly armed with knife attempted to attack other passengers, according to Airports of Thailand (AOT) president Chana U-sathaporn.

Chana said the aircraft was earlier asked to land at Suvarnabhumi airport in Samut Prakan province but the authorities coordinated to divert the landing to Don Mueang Airport.

AOT officials said the plane was a Boeing 737 belonging to Bangladesh Airlines, flight number BG042.

The aircraft's captain contacted Thai authorities and asked for an emergency landing by reporting that there was inflight fighting incident. It was escorted to a safe landing by two Royal Thai Air Force F-16 fighters.

The flight was from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur and was bound for Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The man who armed with knife reportedly had mental problem and tried to attack other passengers on board forced the captain of the aircraft to call for the emergency landing.

After landing, Thai airport authorities and police entered the aircraft and escorted the man for interrogation.

It was not known how he eluded Malaysian security in Kuala Lumpur to carry a knife on board. :o

Technicians were checking the aircraft to determine its readiness to fly to its original destination of Dhaka. (TNA)-E003
