Mobile Phones In Remoter Villages

Recommended Posts

I have a friend in Ban Na Sanuan (south-west of Sisaket) who only has a prepaid DTAC sim-card and consequently receives no signal there. Can you guys who live in the villages give any advice on a better deal? I don't mind buying a new phone and taking out a subscription plan with either AIS or DTAC if it means there is a signal.

What do you recommend from your own experience?

I would think that your friend could answer as to who provides the best service in his/her location.

I live in a small village half way between Burriam and Krasang and have excellent phone service. I do not use my phone often and tried a phone card for about 6 months, it would run out of time just when i decided to make a call. I signed up for an AIS plan and it works great with no problem what so ever and I use a cheap phone.

Maybe ask other mobile owning people in the village what sort of signal they get then change to that company?

When we visit the in laws my true phone didnt work unless I walk 50M or so down the road, my wife on AIS got a good signal everywhere in the village.

Many thanks indeed. Seems to be AIS subscription then.

Check with local mobile users as to which service provider has the strongest signal.

Cheers

An AIS subscription is probably the way to go. However, if you just want to try out the AIS signal, buy a One-to-Go sim card for 59 baht (sold almost everywhere) plus a 100 baht top-up card. Incidentally this is good for short holiday stays too.
