astral
Does Khon Kaen have the infrastrcture to support software development? Have CAT and TOT laid the fibre optic cables to support fast broadband communications that will be needed?? Bangalore does. They also have one of the best cable TV systems I have seen. Over 1000 channels, Indian and International, High quality signal with EPG. Compare this to the pathetic offerings of UBC/True Oh, I forgot to mention electric power. That is where Bangalore does fall down, with frequent power cuts.
Khun Jean
It not work like that in 3rd world countries. It goes like this: First you launch an idea, a hub sounds good. Land is bought, infrastructure is made, houses are build. And that is it. Failure as a hub. Big success for making money. Who made the money? Go back and see who launched the idea. That one and close relatives and friends will be the moneymakers. Thailand is the best country to do that. Its people are not dying of hunger, medical care is available. Nothing to put the international spotlight on Thailand. And so skimming and scamming is very easy to do, and especially when it is a 'plan' to better the country. toret
I remember some years ago I read in The Cambodia Daily that Taksin had proposed a couple of new hubs, and in connection with that had commented that "Thailand will be the hub for everything". The Cambodia Daily then suggested that Thailand could become a hub for hot air.

ajarnmark
As a preventive measure, every hub failure should be permanently tattooed on the responsible Minister`s forehead. If this is the practice then all western government will have people with tattoos on their forehead.
tso310
I always thought Pantip Plaza was the hub of the Thai IT industry.
Payboy
First step is to open a few hundred bars, get the girls back from pattaya, bangkok or wherever they ply there trade. exactly the same recipe as the tourism hub...
quiksilva
I am sorry, but there may not be any more room in Thailand or on ThaiVisa for one more hub. Soon the kingdom will be nothing but hubs, no spokes, no rims, no tyres. Software design requires highly motivated, iconoclastic thinkers who do not follow all the rules, and who were trained to think outside the box. All these "hubs" are just scams to get the government to pay for some empty office building in the middle of nowhere. Anybody been to the "Software Park"? A skyscraper in the middle of nowhere that sold a big chunk of its space to the government because its owner (the owner of Samart.) was connected. Total waste of money and the diversion of resources and civil servant attention held back the development of what little software industry there is. I have, its practically full. Space is offered on a serviced office type of arrangement, which requires lower capital investment by way of leasehold improvements by their occupants. They also organise training seminars, they help with HR, finding investors and have a quoted rental rate of Baht 200 per sqm per month, (half the rent of other comparable buildings in the same location). So how exactly has this initiative held back the industry? http://www.swpark.or.th
