I have it on good authority - that visas in HKG for the PRC have doubled the already mafia price of us140 to us250 - FOR ONE MONTH. For yrs this was 'the' place to get a visa to PRC as most everywhere else will chg you the full us140 but only give you one month. I called PRC emb in BKK and they told me precisely that - one month (B6K I recall!!). Only spoke Chinese and Thai as well so that did not make sorting it any easier.
