sriracha john
Oil price may top 45 baht/liter in next few days Energy specialist Manoon Siriwan admits that the retail prices of benzene may top 45 baht per liter while the retail diesel price could hit 38 baht per liter in the next few days, if the price of global crude oil reaches 125 US dollars per barrel. Mr. Manoon says in the next few months, the price of crude oil in the United States of America is likely to hit 150 US dollars per barrel, further speculating that it may reach 120 US dollars per barrel soon. He says if so, the Oil Fund will release more oil from its warehouse to speculate for benefits. He suggests saving energy but consuming alternative energy instead may help alleviate the current crisis. He says the related-organizations must be well-planned and managed over growing energy plants and agricultural plants as well. - ThaiNews / 22-4-

As one poster noted the price of gas in Saudi is 2.5 baht. As far as i remember most OPEC are rich in oil but low on food supply. so it will even up once food producing countries will also limit exports and get a better price. by the way the USA is the largest oil consumer in the world... and the people who deal with oil are getting very Rich from those prices... whats that family from Texas....Bush

Buy a reasonably stylish car at the 2.5 - 3.0 mil baht mark and the extra million saved will buy ten years, or 500 tanks or 400,000 km's of fuel. or Could just wait another ten years for the price of hybrid cars to join the realms of reality / good value for money. Unfortunately, hybrids do not seem to make any economic sense whatsoever at this point in time. Soundman.

Unfortunately, hybrids do not seem to make any economic sense whatsoever at this point in time. Not really, if you were buying Alphard you could choose a hybrid or petrol, and then hybrid would make more sense. Or if you were buying E class Benz and went for CNG version. True, there aren't any hybrids in sub 1 mil price range (Toyota Prius cost about 2 mil), but there was a talk about local Camry going hybrid soon. Don't forget that some calculate that overall hybrids leave a larger carbon footprint than regular cars, they sell them for the statement value rather as an economic choice, but we are slowly getting there, they would eventually make sense to your average car buyer. sriracha john
Woohoo! Less traffic on the roads. That's the astounding thing. There's more traffic on the roads now then there was just awhile ago when diesel was 16 baht and benzene was 20 and it has only steadily increased since those prices steadily rose from that to what they are today. Concern mounts as oil price nears 120 dollars 8 hours ago SINGAPORE (AFP) — International concern mounted as world oil prices edged closer to 120 dollars a barrel Wednesday and the world's top producer called for calm. Analysts said a weakening US dollar, supply worries in Nigeria and the OPEC cartel's reluctance to increase output have all contributed to the price surge. New York's main oil futures contract, light sweet crude for delivery in June, rose four cents to 118.11 dollars per barrel. The May contract expired on Tuesday after closing at a record 119.37 dollars per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange, where it earlier hit an all-time intraday peak of 119.90 dollars
Tony Clifton
All a big scam, it' ll go to 200$ a barrel and remain up there forever, not much done refinery capacity wise, this way, poorer parts of the world will have to reduce consumption and it will severely put a brake the new booming economies, richer countries can have whatever is available. Jai Dee
Energy expert says retail benzene price may reach 40 baht a liter Energy Expert Manoon Siriwan (มนูญ ศิริวรรณ) says the price of Benzene may hit record high of 4 USD a gallon, resulting in the retail Benzene price in the country in June to increase to 40 baht a liter. The expert says further that the crude oil price in the global market might exceed 120 USD a barrel and this increase will affect prices of refined oil in the Singapore market. Factors affected oil price hikes include continuously depreciating USD and terrorist attacks at oil pipes in Nigeria which leads to less oil export from the country. Mr Manoon also says the retail diesel price has increased 2-3 times lately due to low oil margins. He adds that if the global diesel price is raised 2-3 more times, the domestic diesel price will increase by two baht to stay at 38 baht a liter. jonniebkk
That's nearing 3,000 baht for a full tank in our diesel Land Rover! And just think, if you had bought a CRV or Fortuner, you would have had a couple million baht left over in your pocket. That would have bought allot of tank-fills no matter what the price. But I assume that since you had the cash for a flash SUV, whats a few thousand baht per tank for swells like you?
