PM unveils plans to build world's tallest building (video)
edwinchester replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Maybe it can be built next to the world's tallest flagpole that never got built. -
You'd rate a Celerio that highly? Couldn't even drive one comfortably and I'm only 6ft. Build quality was appalling, even wifey turned her nose up at it so we went for the NETA V for the school run. It fulfills the task brilliantly, cutting the monthly fuel bill by 80% compared to the Triton we used to run.

My daughter and her own family love Thailand and went back to the UK last weekend after their fortnight here. Her husband told me that the entire trip, for two adults and three youngsters, has cost nearly £11,000! £5500 was for 5 economy flights. They are quite well off but if prices keep going up they will be seriously considering destinations other than Thailand.

Elderly rice farmer dies in field blaze in Udon Thani
edwinchester replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Wifeys friend doesn't burn her rice straw. She turns it into rice bales and sells it to increase her profit even more. I have no idea why other farmers don't do the same as the guys doing the baling will do it for free and then give you a price for each bale they take away. -
Bangkok aims to reduce plastic use with more water refill stations
edwinchester replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
We've got one in our village with a long hose so people can easily fill a big tank whilst it's still on the motorcycle. We stopped using it after seeing people give the local dogs a drink from the hose. -

Thailand’s PTT Plc sees future in hydrogen fuel for vehicles
edwinchester replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Hydrogen fueling stations are very expensive unfortunately. I'd love to be able to generate my own hydrogen from solar/wind and use it to power my home and transport. Hopefully will happen one day. -

The border between Kanchanaburi and Burma is as porous as it gets, easy to cross. Before I went to extensions of stay I used to do border hops at Phu Nam Ron in Kan. A minibus used to bus us across the border to Burmese Immigration. A couple of times on the way back into Thailand people were being trafficked into Thailand as the bus was stopped short of the border and they disappeared into the jungle with a guide. I reported this to the Police in Thailand. Their response? "Nothing we can do, the Army control this border".

Thai doctor offered bribe to drop lawsuit in Swiss scandal
edwinchester replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Somebody may suspect that a person has offered somebody with connections to law enforcement a large sum of money to ask the Doctor to drop the charges in return for a share of the money. I couldn't possibly comment. -

"Mae Fah Luang International Airport Director Somchanok Tiantiabrat clarified the issue in an interview with Matichon, saying there was a chance that the e-cigarettes would be snuck on board because their bodies are mainly made of plastic and could not be detected by the x-ray device." Must be ancient machines if they're missing stuff like this. I worked in an airport 20 years ago and plastic items were visible on the machines. Great fun pulling passengers out of line for a bag search when sex toys were visible in their luggage. -
Druggies who will sell the copper wire at the recycling plant to fund their habit. A friend had his home broken into when he was on a trip back to Aus. All the wiring was pulled off the walls, as was all the visible plastic water pipe. Even the wooden staircase was dismantled for the wood and metal joining plates. Turns out it was the druggie in the house next door who sold all the recyclables for cash.
