Special - Elite Model Look Thailand 2008 contest at Jungceylon, with Helicam & at Playhouse

To see or download mini-video, go to http://news.prd.go.th/news_detail.php?newsid=216775 (maybe only until 30 April )

A glamorous & glittering group of girls competed in the Elite Model Look Thailand 2008 contest last Saturday evening 26 April at Jungceylon arena in Patong, in front of a large crowd of VIPs, sponsors, supporters, onlookers and press of course! This was the final round of the contest whittled down from 1,000 hopefuls from all over the country who applied with Elite & Organiser IQ company in Bangkok, to the 20 who made it for a 5 day trip to Phuket, which included being filmed by Helicam Company’s mini helicopter to get some great aerial shots of the excited girls on a tour out from Royal Phuket Marina to Phang Nga Bay aboard a luxury Sunseeker power boat, which took them around the equally stunning limestone cliffs and islands despite the backdrop of stormy clouds on the horizon.

Back at Jungceylon, the top 10 girls were selected, before the final top 3 were chosen by the judges. They were crowd-favourite Nastassia Neufeld from Pattaya, Netnapa Prasongsansuk and Natawanee Ratanapaitun, both from Bangkok, Those 3 were then each asked why they thought they should win, with the latter 2 speaking in Thai, while Nastassia being half-Canadian, spoke in English: They were all hoping as winners to represent Elite Thailand & join the international contest to be held in Beijing China later this year, and get a 2 year contract with Elite up to 2010 with the chance of hosting the international contest right here in Phuket, when 80 models from 65 countries would compete here. Elite Agency has been established since 1972 in Paris, France, and held international contests since 1983, as way to recruit new talent. These final 3 Thai girls, still students at university or schools, appeared confident and beautiful in evening dresses. but were obviously nervous as the third place was then announced for Netnapa and then nervousness turned to excitement as the first place winner was announced for Nastassia, meaning Natawanee came second. They lined up with many sponsors, and then we got the first chance to interview the lucky winner, Nastassia, who revealed to us her Thai name Chalatorn, but still preferred to chat in English:

After the contest all the girls and organizers were able to fully relax and enjoy a ‘Red Carpet’ party at the new Playhouse Theatre & Restaurant, previously called the Sphinx theatre, on Rat-u-Tit Road in Patong. There was time of course for more posing with supporters and admirers and Nastassia or Chalatorn enjoyed every minute of her triumph, even though she is still only 16 and has to soon go back to studying at international school in Rayong. We hope to see her back in Phuket a little older and wiser, perhaps after winning in Beijing!
