Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Packs for Windows Vista SP1 Updated

Starting with April 15, 2008, all the 36 different editions of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 have been available for download, in accordance with all the languages supported by the RTM edition of Microsoft's latest Windows client.

While Vista RTM users running the operating system in English, Spanish, Japanese, German and French got to play with SP1 as early as mid-March, Microsoft released the remaining language editions of the service pack to manufacturing this month. And on top of it all, the Redmond company also updated the Language Packs for both Vista SP1 and Vista RTM.

Christopher Flores, Director Windows Communications announced that the updated Multilingual User Interface (MUI) packs are now available for download. "We have made available updated Language Packs for users using Windows Vista SP1 as well as those running Windows Vista RTM. For those running SP1, the Language Packs should be showing up for you under Windows Update," he stated.

Multilingual User Interface packs are designed to integrate exclusively with the Ultimate SKU of Vista SP1 and RTM editions. However, the MUI packages are not available to any other Vista edition, because they are served through Windows Update, as part of the Windows Ultimate Extras. The company's WU servers first have to identify a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate, either RTM or SP1 before it allows access to the Ultimate Extras. Microsoft is offering a total of 35 Language Packs, all of them updated for Vista SP1.

"The specific language packs which are being released are as follows: German, English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Greek, Estonian, Finnish, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Arabic, Hebrew, Croatian, Portuguese (Brazil), Serbian (Latin), Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional) and Russian." it has been announced.
