Windows Updates Cutoff From Me

Featured Replies

I'm on a prebuilt to my specs desktop PC in my condo.

As I had suspected anyway, looks like my XP sp2 copy was spied by big brother

Microshit after I'd tried to upgrade my media player.So...naturally Microsoft,

after using tricky wording to the effect of "the info you send us is confidential etc horse shit"

it appears they have not only prevented the media player update, but rendered my previously

functioning version useless!...and now the automatic security fixes/updates mysteriously

cut off as well. I already have a much superior media player I now use,but the fixes/updates

thing pisses me off.Why does Microsoft have to be such <deleted> babies about this stuff?

Yes,technically they have the right,as my copy of XP is apparently a bootleg, but jeezis!

Sorry for the rant. Maybe I will get an apple and give the middle finger to old mega-ego big boss.

I forwarded your concern and got this response from M$

If you are using bootleg XP and accept the 'update' to the latest version of media player, yes it all goes to hel_l. It's a pain in the arse to roll back too. Probably, M$ think you deserve it!

well step away from the media player hel1

un install the windows media player then download the klite codec pack which contains the goodness of media player classic , quicktime alternative , real alternative and all the codecs you will probably ever need

Simple solution.. PAY FOR IT !!!

When you download WMP11 it clearly says its going to do a windows genuine advantage check.. What do you assume that would be fore then ??

And quite honestly if your going to steal does it not seem pretty poor grace to then complain when they attempt to stop you ?? While your trying to take more free software for thier licensed users ??

I am not claiming that every app I have ever installed was fully paid up.. But I dont come and piss and moan when I would then have a problem.

Face the facts -- you got caught stealin. And then you post here slandering the company that caught you "thieving" their product ? You'll need to look elsewhere for my sympathy.

I second that!!

You can afford to build a computer to your own specifications but not pay for a genuine version of Windows, then you complain because Microsoft don't want to update your dodgy version???

I can translate the tricky wording for you. It says Microsoft doesn't update software they didn't sell you. :o

The Apple suggestion sounds good. I'm sure buying a Mac will be cheaper than paying for Windows :D :D
