AurelMax
Hi there :-) I've heard that the Thai immigration office does not deliver a 30 days free visa anymore at the Poipet - Aranya border... Can anyone confirm that? If that's true, is there any other possibility than buying a tourist visa? I just go in Thailand to catch my plane, I don't really feel like buying a new visa... Thanks for your help Aurel
jstumbo
I think you are confusing visa on arrival and visa exempt entries. Any border immigration checkpoint should give a visa exempt entry. But some do not have the facilities to issue visa on arrivals.
AurelMax
Thank you! Can anyone confirm (or not) that the border Poipet - Arnya pratet does have these facilities? A flight Pnom Phen to BKK is not that expensive, and if that can avoid me buying a new visa... Thank you
jstumbo
Visas on arrival are only available for a small number of countries. sjaak327
What nationality are you, It it amazing that people don't state their nationality when asking visa questions... In any case, if you are from those 20 countries listed above, you can only enter the country on a visa on arrival or a pre-arranged visa. If you are, then poipet/aran isn't for you, as they don't have facilities to issue visa on arrival. From MOFA Thailand: List of Thailand’s Immigration Checkpoints which provide facilities for issuance of visa on arrival : 1. Suvarnabhumi Airport 2. Don Muang International Airport , Bangkok 3. Chiangmai International Airport , Chiangmai 4. Phuket International Airport , Phuket 5. Hatyai International Airport , Songkhla 6. U Tapao Airport , Rayong 7. Mae Sai Immigration Checkpoint , Chiengrai 8. Chieng Saen Immigration Checkpoint , Chiengrai 9. Chieng Khong Immigration Checkpoint , Chiengrai 10. Betong Immigration Checkpoint , Yala 11. Sadoa Immigration Checkpoint , Songkhla 12. Samui Airport , Surat Thani 13. Sukhothai International Airport, Tak Immigration Checkpoint 14. Bangkok Harbour Immigration Checkpoint, Bangkok 15. Sri Racha Immigration Checkpoint , Chonburi 16. Mabtaput Immigration Checkpoint , Rayong 17. Nong Khai Immigration Checkpoint, Nong Khai 18. Samui Immigration Checkpoint , Surat Thani 19. Phuket Immigration Checkpoint , Phuket 20. Satun Immigration Checkpoint , Satun 21. Krabi Immigration Checkpoint , Krabi 22. Songkhla Harbour Immigraion Checkpoint , Songkhla 23. Chiangrai Airport Immigration Checkpoint, Chiangrai 24. Surat Thani Airport Immigration Checkpoint , Surat Thani If you happen to be from the 41 countries that are visa exempt, then you will get a free 30 days exempt stamp at any border. They might ask for proof of onward travel, they might not.

Departure tax in PP is $25 so you lose money even before you have bordered the plane ...

Savanna
1. If you get the visa exempt stamp would they want to see your forwarding travel arrangements? 2. What happens if you get the visa exempt stamp and you realise you are going to be staying longer than 30 days, can you extend or MUST you leave? lopburi3
1. Cambodian border entry visa exempt often requires proof of onward travel within 30 days. Other borders this is almost never required. 2. You may be able to extend 7 days (1,900 baht) with proof of travel - otherwise you must leave before that 30 day period ends.
sniffdog
============================================================== Cambodian border entry visa exempt often requires proof of onward travel within 30 days. ============================================================== However, those on organized visa tours (Jack Golf etc ) to either Ban Laem or Poi Pet don't have to worry about that at the moment. sjaak327
If you are going to stay longer then 30 days, consider obtaining a tourits visa, as it's only 1000 baht and good for 60 days, as opposed to 1900 baht for only 7 days.
AurelMax
I do come from Belgium, Sniffdog get the point :-) I've been confusing visa on arrival and visa exemption entry... It's the second one I'm gonna ask, and I have a proof I leave Thailand on the 4th of May, so it's not gonna be a problem (hopefully, you never know what can happen at borders ) Thanks for your help, all Cya
