Malaysian Opening Personal Bank Account

Featured Replies

Hi,

any requirement or restriction for malaysian to open a bank account (personal bank account and checking account) in bangkok ?

which bank is recommended ?

besides Thai baht, can we convert the monies into USD or AUS dollars ? Is there any requirement or restriction ?

Thanks.

Passbook savings accounts with a debit card are not a problem but checkbook

accounts are mainly for companies.

Term deposits in foregn currencies are also possible.

SCB and Kasikorn are the current favourites.

Naka.

Defaybe, unlike Malaysia, cheque books aren't really popular amongst individuals account holders. So even if you issue a personal cheque, there might be chances that the recipient might not accept it.

Also, I believe all foreigners who wish to open any type of accounts needs to show the work permit

A work permit is not required by Kasikorn or SCB. It would seem only Bkk Bank ask for this,

as has been reported many times.
