Looking For My National Insurance Number

Featured Replies

Maybe a stupid question but under my mountains of paperwork can't find my NI number.

Some of my paperwork in UK but from what I have here can't find it quoted anywhere.

Is there some kind of form , paperwork that has it written on it.

What kind of paperwork normally quotes it (apart from NI payments - don't have that paperwork with me)

I'm pretty sure that the only 'normal' paperwork that carries your NI number is your UK payslip, so unless you've got one of those you're likely stuffed :o

You can also get a replacement NI card, look here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/nic/ynino.htm#c although they won't send it overseas and you're only entitled to one replacement.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Appears on your P60 issued annually if you are a UK taxpayer, appears on your payslips and on your P45 issued when you left your last UK employment. It also appears on your National Health Card but not may people have them around! Also follow this link for further info.

Thanks for the tips, I'll start searching through my tax files.

I had a feeling that I once had to give it to a letting agent on a property I have for rent, but maybe my memory is wrong :o

so that might be second place to look.

The "only one" replacement is a bit ominous. Lose it again and then what happens.
