If you visa is still valid (you have not reached the "enter before" date on the visa), and still has a remaining entry on it, they will allow you to re-enter Thailand on it.

Actually i was to go to the border today, but had an accident on the motorbike, so i couldnt go until tomorrow, and my visa was until today, 8 may. Is that a big problem??

If your visa said "enter before" 8-May, then you would have had to enter on the 7th, it is no good on the 8th or later. Your visa is now expired and no longer good. You will either need to get a new one, or make a border run and get a 30 day visa exempt entry if you are eligible.

On the stam p i get from immigration in Khorat it says: permitted to stay until 8 may. On the visa fro Vientienne; enter before 5 may, shit, i didnt know, as the guy in Khorat, just told me, remember your visa is valid intil 8 may....Does i have a big problem now?

Frustrated....

You cannot use the second entry because the visa has expired. It means that you need a new visa from a consulate, or if you only want to come back in for 30 days, you could just make a border run and get a 30 day visa exempt entry. That is if you are from Norway, or another country that is allowed them.

Also, you are now on overstay. You will be fined 500 baht per day (first day free if leaving by air). You will be subject to arrest and booking into the IDC if caught by the police.

If you get a double entry visa, you have to make both entries before the "enter before" date on the visa. The permitted to stay date only applies to your current stay. That catches a lot of people out, because they think that they can stay until their permitted to stay date, and then use the second entry, only to find out that the visa has expired.

Many people have been caught out by that one.

"enter before" does not mean that you can enter ON the "enter before" date. You have to "enter before" the actual date. Just one of those nasty quirks that catches you out. :o

First off all, Thank you.

Why i think it would be a problem is; since i got a tourist *2 visa and only used the one, i think its a problem, but what do i know, its only a thought.

My fiancee has cried her eyes out all night because she thinks i would have to leave her for 6 months, as i think as well.

But i guess i fiend out tomorrow :o

Thank you all for quick responses :D

What has 2 visas got to do with anything ? and can't you just get a 30 day stamp if it all went wrong ?

I had 2 valid Visas in my passport once, A single entry from Iceland that I wasn't happy with and a Multi Entry from Germany which I asked them to use instead of the Single one.

I can't see why you would have a problem :-) No need for tears.

Should not be a problem.

They probably see people that only used one of the two entries on their visa. They would not hold it against you. Even if they did not give you another visa right now, you could just enter again for 30 days, then you could apply for another visa. But the chances of them not giving you another visa is very small.

Assure your fiancee, that you are not going anywhere and you will be back after an overnight stay in Vientiane.

Why i think i have a problem, is as i have stayed now 9 months on tourist visa...But i guess i have a go, so i find out tomorrow in Vientienne. Worst case senario i have to stay in laos for 6 months....

There is no requirement to remain outside the country for 6 months.

The only requirements that have to do with 6 months is that you cannot be in Thailand for more 90 days on 30 day visa exempt entries during a 6 month period. It does not look like you have been on any visa exempt entries.

As long as you have a visa, you can enter Thailand. The 90 days in 6 months rule only applies to entries without a visa.

1. Absolutely do not have to remain outside Thailand six months - only visa exempt 30 day stamps have a rule that you can not stay more than 90 days in a six month period - you can still enter using a visa. As you have not used visa exempt entry it does not apply to you in any case.

2. The important date for using a visa is on the visa - in your case last entry had to be used on 4 May. The stamp put in your passport by Immigration is the last day you must leave on your current stay so officer told you that you must depart by that date - he was not talking about a new entry.
