Hello :o

I have just reinstalled my boss' laptop - he used a bootleg XP Pro, i wiped his HDD and installed a genuine XP Home SP 2. When i ran the updates after activation, it offered SP 3, so i got that. It installed fine and seems to work fine, too (so far no other software on the machine, just Windows, the SP and all drivers).

However, now, it receives further updates (IE 7, WMP 11, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, .Net framework 1.1 and 2.0), all of them DOWNLOAD but none will install! It just says "the following updates were not installed...."

Is this a known bug of SP 3 and is there a workaround?

Or should i go for the standalone versions?

Appreciate any help.....

Hello again :o

Seems to be some server problem on Microsoft's side - i installed them all via the standalone installers, and everything that came from a MS download site i had to "refresh" half a dozen times before it downloaded.

However, everything installed now, thread can be closed :D

Best regards......
