I read about the latest version of Google Earth, including a Sky view feature so I downloaded it.

I didn't get as far as the Sky feature as the land view is a total disaster.

All the photos of the land have gone and are replaced with line maps of the roads and nothing else.

I am back on my old version with the real satellite/aerial photos.

Uh? Surely some mistake? Downloaded it yesterday and it's the same aerial pics as before + some selectable quasi-3D features like showing building heights in side angle graphics view. Either you got Google Maps instead or you've knocked out the aerial pics view in Google Earth somehow? I did use the road names map feature as an overlay - didn't have that before, I think and it's switchable anyhow.

Conversely, I pretty much gave up on the Microsoft Earth views - seemed really slow and awkward to control zooms and locations.

I also just downloaded the latest version a couple of days ago and it works fine. Uninstalled the older version and installed the new one and it kept My Places. Just posted an image from it in the Chiangmai forum.

That's strange since I downloaded the newest GE 4.3 version also, about 7-10 days ago; it was released on April 16th.

Did you go to the top left of GE and clicked on 'help' and than on 'check for updates online' ? From there you can download; sorry if I sound a bit like a teacher..not meant that way
