Certificate Of Residency

Featured Replies

How do I get a certificate of residency from Immigration? What documents do I need to show them and how much does it cost? I need this to change the address on my drivers liscense and dont want to pay $30 for the same thing at the US consulate.

Believe you have to be here on a one year extension of stay and have made a 90 day address report - but have not checked closely so I may be wrong.

I did mine under exactly those conditions and its free, I did leave money for the postage! it takes about two weeks although they quote three weeks. Think you just need to show your passport plus a 90 day report paper which should be stapled into your passport anyway.

These days the embassy route seems the fastest in Bangkok. :o

Out in the sticks you may have better luck.

Wow here in MHS I had to first go to the local cops with the Tabien Baan to get some kind of letter to take to the immigration office. It was all in Thai so I had no idea what it said. So if I went to say Phuket immigration with only my 1 year extension and a 90 day report receipt from say CM immigration (where I have always done them) I could get a certificate of residence in Phuket? Assuming I was actually residing there of course :o

Yes, if you have already reported to the Phuket immigration with your new address. :D

I get my certificates (free) when I do my extension of stay and they give it to me on the spot (three occasions, twice in Nan and once in Kap Cheong)

They ask for a copy of the passport page with the current extension and 2 ID fotos per certificate

if it's the same letter as when you wanna buy a vehicule, just go there and ask for the confirmation of adress letter, bring two pictures pay the fees and that's it.

Spaniel, the immigration office will give you the form TM.18 to fill out. (The only immigration form, I believe, that asks for your race)

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

If your married to a Thai go with your wife and her house book to local amphor and have them generate a letter stating you live at her address. I did this several years ago when I obtained drivers license and a year later for 5 years license.

Went to local Imm. and it took five min. and free., have done this many times for various reasons and the only thing new in five years is now they want a picture to attach ....Have no idea why people would go too their embassey and pay money for something that is free.............
