I recieved a phone call today informing me of the latest info regarding your bank savings. According to my freind over there brains on TV are advocating that you should be spliiting you assests to be covered by the government bankrupcy payout. (35.000grand).

I checked on the BBC website and noted that now Barclays have just written off I billion credit loans. I use Barclays so I'm a litle anxious about the outcome as I have a lumper offshore with them.

Is there any restrictions about how much you can transfer here and can you get it out at a later date without hassle?.

Anyone any news or info on this subject.

Cheers :o

Mate...I wouldnt bother moving money into Thailand, you would be better moving it to Singapore or Hong Kong...

What you are referring to is the Investors Compensation Scheme, which does not include funds held offshore anyway.

I wouldn't be concerned if you are with a major bank in the UK, and you will certainly be alot better protected than bringing it to Thailand.

i just bought shares in barclays, this afternoon. they have a strong base, and they dont enter in to many risky ventures.
