Mobile Internet Connection

Featured Replies

I am looking at mobile internet options for my laptop when we travel in Thailand. I am unsure of the options available, particularly as we wish to have access whilst in Songkhla, southern Thailand. My only opportunity to buy sim cards modems etc will be during a stopover at Suvarnabhumi and Don Meuang. Currently have a Three mobile broadband Modem on the 3G network. I am hopeful of being able to skype from different locations in Southern Thailand. Not sure if my modem will work over there either??

Skype doesn't work well with Cat Telecom's 3G - EVDO/1x network around Thailand. Your modem will not work here, but you could purchase one from them from about 3,999 Baht

Your modem's not working in Thailand.

Even 3G licenses are not yet issued to operators in Thailand so no one has really proper 3G network up and running yet. CAT has somekind of CDMA running but not sure if any good for data. AIS launched 3G in some areas in existing 900MHz band but not sure if working down south yet...
