teej
Could anybody who has driven the route give some insight into the matter? How far from Bangkok to Ban Pong (Rachaburi?) When would I need to leave BKK to arrive in Ban Pong at around 5am? Weekday. How are the roads (aka can I speed)? Thanks all teej

Kan Win
All depends where in Bangkok you are staying? As for the road works, where abouts, as I travel this road weekly? and there are none BTW BigC has opened also near Ban Pong FYI. Kan Win
skipvice
construction in on song phon rd off of hwy 323. If you travel to Bangkok to Kanchanaburi you would never see it. I could be wrong as i have not been that way for almost a year.
teej
Thanks guys. I made the drive in 61 minutes door-to-destination leaving at 6:10 am on a Thrusday (I live in the Grand Canal development behind Sports City on Prachacheun Rd -- so it was easy to take the Rama 5 Ratchapreuk all the way to the end then get on the road that goes past all of the Puttamonthon1,2,3,4,etc). Driving home I made it in about 80+ mins because of very heavy rains at around 9pm and my final destination was my flat in Thonglor, not my house in Grand Canal, which would have been quicker. All in all, not a bad drive, and the roads weren't bad. I didn't encounter the construction zone another poster had mentioned. So I'd say 60mins-90mins is accurate depending on where you are in BKK.
