Like suggestions on where/what to buy a PBX system for small office... Have 3 lines in and 6 desks (phone locations)... VOIP facility would be useful... plus installation.

I've had good experiences with the Aria SOHO model from LG-Nortel in a small office environment, they are flexible and support (on site and remote) has been very good, but that is in Phuket, YMMV.

Thanks... had a look online and it looks to be the answer. Will try and find relaible BKK dealer... Could you give me a rough idea of cost?

As I recall it was about 38,000 Baht for the whole set-up, which included the PABX itself, two phones with the ability to hit a button to forward a call to another extension (the bigger black ones) and two other regular phones for the other two desks. That price also included installation, but of course not the phone lines and cabling to the installation point etc. This is going back about a year and a half. Hope it helps.

Sorry, just found the original invoice (it's a .pdf file) but here is the contact details:

They are in Phuket I believe, but I guess they should be able to put you in touch with a BKK sales person. Hope this helps.

Check out Linux Based Asterisk systems. Its free for the software and highly configurable. You just need a decent PC to install it on. From there you need to buy the telephony card(s) you want to use. Digium cards are fairly popular and supported but there are dozens of choices.

It's not for dummies as you need someone who is resourceful with a Linux system but getting easier and easier. From an economics and features standpoint its a no brainer.

check out www.asterisk.org or just google. Its the biggest new trend in Telephony and beating the heck out of the more overpriced and hamstrung PBX market.
