May 22, 200818 yr Hi, I'm building a fish pond above ground of approx 2 Meters x 4 Meters. Does anyone know what kind of water depth it should have to keep fairly large fish without boiling them ? It will have some kind of indirect sun for short periods, Has anyone had any experience ? Thanks
May 23, 200818 yr I have a large koi pond and have it 1 meter deep which seems to work well. in california mine was 1/2 meter deep and was good. i was told here the deeper depth was better
May 23, 200818 yr Google "Koi pond construction" and you will get more info than you will know what to do with. It will tell you the size requirements depending on how many fish you want to keep. A good pump and circulation system is pretty important. Happy fish growing.

May 25, 200818 yr Thanks guys for the replies, Does anyone know a good place to get the pump and filter? I tried all Home Pro stores etc but nothing that was of any use.Cheers Buy a small swimming pool sand filter. Take the discharge water hose and run it over a rock waterfall. You keep the water clean and aerated at the same time.
