Clock Radio Or Mini/shelf System With Time/wake Function

Featured Replies

I've been hunting unsuccessfully for a while now, online and off, for a new clock radio / wake-up solution. I'm looking for something of decent quality - anything under 2000 THB is unlikely to make the grade, and I would spend 5000-10000 THB, perhaps even more, for something of good quality. I do draw the line at a Bose Wave or similar. As great as they are, I can't justify the price - It's not like I'm going to be listening to it all day in the bedroom and I have a good hi-fi in the lounge. I mainly just need something reliable in the bedroom to wake me up, but good sound and features desirable.

It can be a dedicated clock radio, or a small shelf/mini system that has clock/alarm features.

I've bought 3 clock radios in the last 5 years (Sony, Philips, some rubbish brand) - none of them have had decent reception, the manually tuning drifts almost straight away, the battery backup (9V battery required) fails constantly etc.

Must have features:

- clock

- alarm/wake function - wake to radio and/or music

- inbuilt reliable battery backup (ie Lithium or similar)!

- digital tuner with quality reception, ideally with presets (that are also retained when power lost)

Optional desirable features:

- plays mp3s, ideally shuffled, preferable off a USB memory stick or SD card (otherwise off a CD-R disk)

- brews coffee, massages, tells me I'm handsome etc.

Any recommendations, brands, models, prices, locations to purchase (in Bangkok)??

*optimistically bumps thread*

My Sony mobile phone has all of those functions and I can also make calls with it.

Kind of lacks the acceptable quality room filling sound I'm looking for. Guess you could do some sort of streaming bluetooth speaker setup.

To get radio reception you need the headphones to act as the aerial I think, which also probably means you can't charge simultaneously?

Anyway, appreciate the reply.
