Retirement Visa Renewal

Featured Replies

I am going to Mae Hong Son to extend my retirement visa for another year. The actual day falls on a Friday, do I have a week either side (similar to the 90 day check in) to renew or must I be there on the exact day?

Thanks,

Colin

You can go earlier, but most definitely NOT LATER! You would be in overstay then, and run the risk of losing your visa altogether and having to re-apply again!

I think up to two eeks in advance is no problem at all. I personally try to time it in the last week.

Don't know about Mae Hong Son but in Pattaya / Jompthien you can apply for a 'retirement' extension anytime within the last 30 days before your current 'permission to stay until ...' expires.

Thanks Monty, I was intending to spend the weekend in MHS with rellies and do the deed on Monday but now I will reverse that idea!!

Colin

Always a good idea to do it about 3 weeks before it expires in case of any problems.

Never wait till the last day for visa renewal of this type.
