mrbojangles
Hi guys, Does anyone know how to get around blocked websites? I'm now working in Saudi Arabia and you can hardly go to any web sites without a blocked message appearing. I'm not on about porn sites, just everyday sites that just seem to be blocked. Any tricks of the trade would be appreciated

marcus
http://www.your-freedom.net/ works perfect for me. The big advantage of this that you can choose from several servers in several countries, in other words : if you have problems reaching a server in Europe due to low bandwidth (as it is now unfortunately...), it sometimes makes sense to route your traffic over a server in let's say the US. A hidden bonus if you are Britisch, French or German is that they have servers in these countries, which makes www.zattoo.com suddenly working very well It is free for low bandwidth, the high bandwidth version costs 10 euro/month, but you can try it free for a couple of hours Edited June 3, 2008 by marcus
b19bry
Get a secure VPN connection this creates a more secure connection for you and helps protect against virus and spyware and will open up your net access at the same time.
phazey
Bear in mind, by circumnavigating the access control policies set by your ISP in Thailand, you *are* breaking the law and subject to criminal proceedings.
edwardandtubs
I recently went to Ladbrokes not to place a bet but just to check out the odds on Euro 2008 and it was blocked as are all betting websites. Very annoying. This was in Thailand not Saudi Arabia. Anyway I got around it - just google firefox proxy add-on and install one then google open proxy and add a few to the add-on and you can access it fine. Bit of a pain just to check of some footy odds.
A_Traveller
Not Diane speaking but the recent Internet Law passed in the Kingdom contains a provision about use, and disemination of techniques designed to bypass blocks placed by the authorities here on sites deemed to not be in the public interest. Given this wording, the board took the decision some time ago to be risk averse and simply remove all discussions pertaining to p***ies or such techniques as on**n r*****g Regards PS I'm surprised this one has lasted as it is for so long.
