Accident Cyclist Injured After Expensive Bicycle Struck by Pickup in Bang Phli
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A group cycling trip turned into a terrifying ordeal when a pickup truck collided with a high-end bicycle in Bang Phli, injuring two riders and causing extensive damage to a bicycle valued at over 500,000 baht. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 on 28 June, along the Suvarnabhumi canal-side road in Bang Pla Subdistrict. Dashcam footage from a following vehicle captured the moment a bronze Isuzu pickup truck, struck a cyclist who had moved into the right-hand lane. The impact sent both the cyclist and his expensive bicycle hurtling across the road, while a female companion riding behind lost control and fell after braking hard on loose sand. Both cyclists sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency services from Bang Phli Rescue were alerted via the 1669 hotline and quickly arrived on scene to administer first aid. The injured were later transported to Chularat Suvarnabhumi Hospital for further treatment. According to witnesses from the group, which consisted of ten cyclists riding in a single file in the left-most lane, the collision occurred so suddenly that most only realised what had happened after the impact. The cyclist struck was riding a premium-brand road bike, with components and accessories bringing its value to over half a million baht. Shockingly, the driver of the pickup fled the scene without offering assistance. Pol. Lt. Col. Pongnarin Nontanok, the investigating officer from Bang Phli Police Station, visited the scene and has launched an investigation. Authorities are working to identify and summon the pickup driver for questioning and legal proceedings. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-29 ScreenRecording_06-28-2025 18-35-49_1.mp4 -

Fire Solar Panel Short Circuit Sparks Fire Scare at Sattahip Home
Picture from responders. A potential disaster was averted on the morning of 28 June, after a fire broke out at a house in Sattahip district, believed to have been caused by a short circuit in a rooftop solar panel system. At approximately 10:00, the Sawang Rojanatham Sathan Sattahip Rescue Foundation’s radio centre received an emergency call reporting a fire at a residential property in the Udomsuk housing estate, Soi 5, located in Sattahip subdistrict, Chonburi province. Firefighters from Sattahip Municipality and Thetsaban Khert Udomsuk Municipality were quickly dispatched to the scene alongside local rescue volunteers. Upon arrival, responders found heavy smoke billowing from the house. An initial inspection revealed that the blaze had originated from the home’s solar panel control system. Flames had begun to spread to household items inside the property before firefighters in breathing apparatus managed to bring the situation under control, using a water hose-line. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Authorities suspect the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in the solar panel setup. A full investigation is being carried out to confirm the exact cause. Responders stated that this incident highlights the need for regular inspection and proper installation of solar panel systems to prevent electrical faults that could endanger lives and property.
